Phoenix Rising Community Project to honor our Veterans

Mission Statement:

Veteran display banners

We are living in a period when our country has been embroiled in various wars across the world for over fifteen (15) years. At times, we fight the human tendency to avoid watching the nightly news and to become numb to the sacrifices that our military has been making on a daily basis. Our mission, in one small way, is to maintain a constant awareness and appreciation for those sacrifices. Accordingly, the members of Phoenix Rising have created a program to commemorate our Veterans who have served or are serving in the defense of our country. The program will proudly display banners along Main Street of Hudson Falls which depict the name and photograph of the Veteran, and his or her branch of service.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify, Honorees must meet the following requirements:

(1) either born in Hudson Falls or Kingsbury, or is a past or current resident of Hudson Falls or Kingsbury, and,

(2) has served or is currently serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard.

As an ongoing program, applications will be accepted at any time by those who wish to sponsor a banner, provided that the consent for the recognition has been given by the Veteran or by the family of the deceased Veteran.

How to order a banner:

Complete and submit this application form to Hudson Falls Village Hall, 220 Main Street, Hudson Falls, New York, together with a check in the amount of $195.00 payable to Phoenix Rising to cover the cost of the hardware bracket, the banner, and installation and removal. It is recommended that the sponsor provide a photo (digital image preferred) of the Honoree in uniform.

Display Procedures:

Brackets will be attached to light poles along our Main Street. Banners will be displayed every year from mid-May until mid-November for as long as the banners will last (typically three years). All banner locations shall be determined by Phoenix Rising. A banner sponsor cannot select a specific location. If more banners are ordered than available poles, banners will be installed on a year-to-year rotating basis.

Thank you for your help in commemorating our Veterans.
