Mayor declares State of Emergency

JOHN E. BARTON, MAYOR of the VILLAGE OF HUDSON FALLS declared a State of Emergency effective March 17, 2020 continuing in effect through April 3, 2020 unless sooner rescinded by me.

I direct that all Village buildings be closed to the general public until further notice. The Department of Public Works, Water Department, Code Enforcement and Village Clerk’s Office will begin to operate on a modified schedule beginning March 23, 2020. Our goal is to continue to provide essential services to the community while protecting Village employees and limiting the spread of the virus.

I request that Water Payments be mailed to H.F. Water Dept., 220 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or left in the drop box located at the front entrance of Village Hall. The penalty date for water payments will be extended until April 30, 2020. If payment is received or post marked by 4/30/2020 you will not be assessed a penalty.

Future meetings of the Board will be conducted using best practices to mitigate against the spread of the virus, we encourage the public to submit written comment by either email at hfvillage@villageofhf.com or mail to 220 Main Street, Hudson Falls NY 12839. In addition, the necessary steps will be taken to maximize the meeting space in order to avoid close contact with others.

I have been advised by the New York State Conference of Mayors that “despite the suspension of the Open Meetings Law, in person requirement does not apply to Public Hearings”. Accordingly, the Public Hearing on the 2020-2021 Village Budget will take place in the Board Room at Village Hall, 220 Main Street, Hudson Falls on April 13, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. with the Regular Meeting immediately following. The Agenda and Tentative Budget will be posted on our website in advance. Again, we encourage public comment be submitted in writing as advised above.

The Village Election will be held on Tuesday 4/28/2020, assuming the results are certified timely, we will hold the Swearing-in and Organizational Meeting on Monday, 5/4/2020.

Please note the follow Village Board meetings and public hearings:
